I don't get this video. Anyone can do a WOD on the top of a building at 4 am if Reebok puts all the gear up there and pays them money. I'd be impressed if they had to pick the lock to the building (B&E style) and then had to hump all that gear up and back down the stairs on their own. I'm being a hater, but this commercial is kind of dumb.

I think you're on to something Chris! They should have carried all that shit up the Empire State Building as their WOD.

It's Fitness Lonnie's take on the commercial. Hysterical!
Posted by: Laura | January 27, 2012 at 07:37 AM
How can Reebok go from so good on the 1st commerical to so stupid on the 2nd commerical? The whole think was shit! How about showing more of the actual faces of the athletes because they are the growth of sport just as Tom Brady, Derek Jeter, etc are to their sports. What Reebok should do is take the athletes around to different school and shoot a commerical which would get the youth involved in the sport and expand it also. The NFL has the "Play 60" campaign and Crossfit/Reebok should have the "Elite Fitness campaign.

Not to be a debbie downer but I feel like it's the beginning of the end....at least for anyone who jumped on the CrossFit train pre 2010

I like Lonnie's video better:) hahaha
The commercials would be more inspiring/interesting if there was not only the gamers but people working out all over the world with or without the equipment. Like Kenny and Josh, and other OCF men and women who are deployed, their spouses, kids, police officers, fire men, stay at home moms in their garages;), people who have over come injuries, etc.

I agree with you Jezel. Plus, where are all the dogs and kids running around? Its not the CrossFit experience without that.

I'm happy I'm not the only one not impressed be commercial - I think Reebok is more interested in getting people to watch it on TV and buy their "Crossfit gear" than actually encouraging people to do it themselves.

Opinions are like butts. Everyone has one and they all stink from time to time.
And my opinion is if a business isn't growing its dying. Crossfit needs to continue to grow. Though Rebook may not be Doing everything everyone wants, they are promoting our sport and it is showing growth. Reebok is a company that is selling cloths and shoes and is putting much needed $$$ into what we do.
For example. when snowboarding started in the early 80's people looked at the ski industry as not hard core enough and if there was any big media that showed Snowboarding it was considered a sell out. (currently every ski company in the world owns a major snowboard company). Well fast forward 30 years and look at snowboarding now. Its The most popular sport in the Winter olympics and Snowboarders can make a good living being a professional.
All I'm saying is give the higher ups at CrossFIt HQ the benefit of the doubt for the time being and trust they have the best intentions for the Crossfit Brand. Don't we want to share Fitness with the world? Don't we want to effect as many people as possible? Think of Reebok as possible helper in being able to do this?

I don't have a problem with Reebok or the sport growing and reaching more people. But this commercial is stupid and doesn't represent anything. I can't imagine an overweight non-CrossFitter watching this and then getting excited about CrossFit. This is geared toward people who have already drank the cool-aid. Reebok's goal with this commercial is to leech as much money out of current CrossFitters, not inspire new people. Because the men and women out there who get inspired by working hard, while cold, in the middle of the night tend to join the military, law enforcement, firefighter, or EMT services. If Reebok wanted to inspire new people who aren't fit, they'd show regular people training hard and being coached well in normal CF gyms and/or parks. This is exclusive and lame. It doesn't represent CrossFit as a health and wellness program, nor does it represent CrossFit as a sport. It's shameless marketing. Fitness Lonnie nails it when he punks Rich F's quote.

L4 6+2 reps, then 7+ 4 reps
Posted by: Laura | January 27, 2012 at 02:16 PM
I agree with both Chris's! There needs to be balance. I just watch the commercial and say "what the hell are they trying to sell here".
Reebok, Viagra, & Crossfit, now that's a commerical people would understand!
Posted by: Ken S | January 27, 2012 at 02:35 PM
Because the commercial is not very clear and they move around a lot it kind of made me nauseous!
Posted by: Laura | January 27, 2012 at 02:48 PM
Here is how I invision the commeriacl sounding like.
"When you start to feel the time is right, slip on your Reebok CF Gear and you will be ready to WOD at a moments notice"
"By wearing Reebok CF Gear you never have to worry about blowing your WOD on bad Snatches, Jerks, or Wall Balls, because Reebok CF Gear can handle help you perform in any WOD"
Posted by: Ken S | January 27, 2012 at 02:49 PM
BTW - love that the main site has both the Reebok commercial and the Fitness Lonnie spoof posted next to each other - it's good that HQ is not afraid to laugh at itself
Posted by: ann | January 27, 2012 at 03:01 PM
Sorry, my last line is all messed up. It should read "Reebook CF Gear can help you handle and perfom in any WOD"
Posted by: Ken S | January 27, 2012 at 03:36 PM
